Fentanyl Detox

Fentanyl is an opiate used as an analgesic to treat pain; and a drug which is highly addictive. Fentanyl addicts are not only physically dependent on the drug, but they also develop a mental dependency on the drug. The intensity of this type of addiction makes the detoxification process more complex.

It is recommended that users detoxing from this drug, do so under medical supervision, as a way of controlling emotional or physical discomfort and pain. It is common to detox from this by way of the tapering down method (a gradual reduction). A reputable detox centre will be able to offer and prescribe medication such as Suboxone, as this has been found to be effective during Fentanyl detox treatment by reducing the severity of withdrawal symptoms.

Some of the common symptoms experienced during the detox process may include insomnia, nausea, agitation, and depression to name a few. Fentanyl addicts will often need addiction counseling and therapies to learn how to avoid a relapse.
